The ‘it’ place for the fans of outdoor festivals, great beaches and stunning nature

Visit the destination where you can take a swim in the crystal clear sea, relax on one of the many pebble beaches, walk a mountain trail with spectacular views, cycle through pastures and rocky lands, climb up an attractive route, feel the adrenaline rush on a zipline ride or have fun doing water sports ALL IN ONE DAY!

Baška offers so much more than just a holiday: hiking, cycling, climbing, sailing, scuba diving, zipline canopy tour... Nested in the southernmost part of the island and protected by rocky landscapes from both sides, it is destined for a memorable holiday.

This seemingly typical coastal town with narrow, winding alleys and impressive past played an invaluable role in Croatia’s history. It is in the Benedictine Church of St Lucy in nearby Jurandvor that the Baška Tablet, the most precious symbol of Croatia’s culture and literacy, was found. The inscription on this stone slab mentions the name of a Croatian king, for the first time written in (Old) Croatian, in the Glagolitic script.Another authentic trademark of Baška is its famous lamb, which is not surprising given the fact that cattle breeding was the main source of livelihood in this tame and fertile valley for a long time.

According to the local people, the Baška lamb is the tastiest in the world! This is because the sheep graze on authentic rocky terrains swarming with aromatic herbs that are enriched with the sea salt brought by the bora wind. This delicacy is particularly sought after during the popular Black Sheep Festival, which combines great food, culture, sports and island heritage. Walking the Baška Glagolitic Trail is the best way to learn all about Baška’s past. Just follow the sculptures in the shape of Glagolitic letters to explore the secret sites brimming with cultural and natural gems. The path will take you further to the Diviška pond on the Moon Plateau. There you can find out more about the traditional building of corrals (mrgar) and drystone walls cutting through the rocky slopes, watch the magnificent griffon vultures and admire the stunning vistas from nearby peaks. For a perfect ending to the already perfect day, take a swim in one of Baška’s magical coves.
